Bacon, maple syrup and biscuits and an announcement
Sometimes you just want to put together something simply for the benefit of your family’s taste buds, forget the presentation, the baseness, and the calories. This morning I thought I would slap out a batch of biscuits, and then I thought muffins would be more special, when this post from King Arthur Baking came across my screen. Who cannot resist the flavors of bacon and maple syrup combined with fluffy, buttermilk drop biscuits? So, I cranked this one out in between trying to get ready to leave on our first college visit with three high schoolers. So, I highly recommend this one for tomorrow morning’s breakfast for your crew. I didn’t have any trouble releasing the concoction from the pan, I sprayed my cast iron skillet with pan release aka PAM before putting in the syrup. I was a little disappointed in the consistency of the syrup, though I might have used the ½ cup instead of the 1/4 cup measure. I was moving fast. I just melted some extra butter and syrup in the skillet after turning out the baked product and it worked beautifully. Enjoy!
