Caramel Frosting

Caramel Frosting

½ Cup butter
1 Cup brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ Cup of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 Cups powdered sugar

  1. Melt the butter in a 2 quart sauce pan over medium heat then stir in the brown sugar.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat and stir constantly for 2 minutes while boiling.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the milk and return to the heat.
    Return the mixture to a full boil, then remove from the heat and add the vanilla and set the pan aside to cool to lukewarm.
  3. Transfer mixture to the bowl of a stand mixture and using the whisk attachment, mix in the confectioners’ sugar. Whip to a spreadable consistency. To make it thicker add more confectioner’s sugar and to thin it, add milk or cream in very small increments.
