Waffle House Homemade Waffle Recipe

Waffle House Waffles Homemade (adapted from the Waffle House recipe posted by Just a Pinch recipes)

1 ½ Cup All Purpose Flour
½ Teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons of malted milk powder (optional)
½ cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup plain yogurt (or buttermilk)
½ cup milk
½ cup Half & Half cream
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
Zest of 1 orange (optional)

Note: Prepare this batter the night before for a very rich breakfast.

Sift the dry ingredients. With a stick blender, blend the liquids, egg, sugar, vanilla and butter together. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix several times with the blender. It is okay to have a few lumps, you do not want to over mix the batter. It will be thick- the consistency of cake batter. Store covered & refrigerated for 12 hours or overnight.

Follow the directions on the waffle iron for pre-heating and proceed.
Makes 6-8 Belgian waffles.

Serve with Maple-Honey Butter.

Maple-Honey Butter (can be made day of serving)

2 cups pure maple syrup
½ cup honey
4- 6 Tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes

Heat maple syrup and honey in a heavy bottom sauce pan to boil, reduce heat to simmer and continue to cook the syrup so that it reduces for about 30 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and add 3 or 4 pieces of butter, then gently swirl the pan until all of the butter is melted. Add 3 or 4 more pieces of butter and swirl again until all butter is incorporated. Leave at room temperature until ready to pour over waffles.
